The course and materials that I have honed for my organization are directly tied to new hires and bridging the knowledge share gap that our rapidly rising headcount has hindered. Atlas Field Services and Goldcoast Utility Specialists are, at their core, utility industry vegetation management and inspection companies.

A little Background, In the early 1980s, the International Society of Arboriculture or ISA set out to create a professional licensing component directly tied to the vegetation management and utility forester roles. Our organizations have exclusively hired individuals that have completed this ISA certification. What has been evident thought that beyond the specific subject matter relative to being a utility arborist. It does not account for an overview of the Utility Vegetation Management industry, nor does it touch on the power grid in North America. Does it do an excellent job of tying their arboricultural knowledge back to the utility industry?

My newly created program's stated goal will be to eliminate those gaps in their understanding and set these folks up for the highest level of success from their first day forward. Not only does it benefit the individual, but this approach is of great benefit to the organization as a whole.

The learner will perform all of the following upon completion of the onboarding and introductory course.

  • Explain the Utility Vegetation Management industry sector.

  • Explain the utility industry, its power grid network, and its relationship with the development of vegetation management program plans.

  • Assess tree risk and tree pruning practices as they relate to their role.

  • Evaluate utility arboriculture principles as they relate to their position.
